U.S. Figure Skating is excited to announce its second annual Adult S.T.A.R.S. off-ice testing program which will be held at Adult Nationals on Friday, April 11th 2014.
S.T.A.R.S. is a fun, one day off-ice testing event designed to provide you and your coaches with specific information about the athletic abilities specifically related to your on-ice skills. The purpose of S.T.A.R.S. is to help you train your athleticism ahead of your skills curve and to help your body be as injury resistant as possible.
The S.T.A.R.S. combine consists of 15 tests in three areas: 1) Agility/Balance/Coordination; 2) Strength and Power; 3) Flexibility. All participants will also take part in the educational workshop “Recovery Nutrition and Competition Day Fueling” and get a chance to meet Paul Wylie. Paul will participate in a brief Q&A and be on hand for autographs and photos. The workshop will cover what and when athletes need to eat to boost on-ice performance, how recovery nutrition can help you maintain a healthy body composition and what athletes can eat on the run while staying healthy and properly fueled for training.
Don’t miss out on this one and only opportunity in 2014 for adult skaters to test your athleticism & get your training plan started for next season. The S.T.A.R.S. combine is open to Adult National competitors as well as all other U.S Figure Skating Adult members. Sign up today at www.STARScombine.org.
